“It’s a new dawn, it’s a new day, it’s a new life for me and I’m feeling good”

It is fitting that iTunes 12 Days of Christmas present on New Years Eve was Feeling Good by Michael Bublé, in a handful of words Newley and Bricusse summed up exactly how I at least, am feeling about 2011.

So here we are, it’s a new day and for some reason I’ve signed up for this #oneaday lark, which long term followers of my Twitter feed may be surprised at as I was fond of offering helpful support like “you won’t last a week” and nestled among my favourite tweets is the one where the cult’s founder himself threw in the can. But many acolytes carried on the cause and lasted the whole year and I salute them for it, for I join their ranks thanks in no small part to my good friend Martin over at Megaderived. He’s a far better writer than I, but with practice maybe one day I’ll be good enough to put together a top 10 list for Gamesradar.

Martin, who has a degree and all that, put forward three rules for this blogging lark which I shall quote below

1. Each post will take me roughly 15 minutes to write.
2. The subject will be whatever I fancy, really. Probably flitting between life rumblings, games discussion and maybe the odd attempt at writing some fiction.
3. After that, I’ll check it quickly for obvious spelling errors and then chuck it online.

Now that sounds easy enough right? Well it woulda been if the WordPress iPad app wasn’t useless and has a hilarious “auto-save” feature which doesn’t. So this has actually taken 30 minutes once I switched over to Pages to draft this all up properly before copying it over hoping all the formatting works.

But I digress, we’ve had the new dawn, this is the new day, we are in our new lives and with a little bit of perspective I’m sure well agree that we’re feeling good.

Tune in tomorrow and over the coming weeks to see how I get on at using that gym membership I’ve been paying for, what stupid things people have been saying which “grind my gears”, new snacks I’ve spotted in petrol stations, games industry commentary and whether or not I can stick this #oneaday out longer than its founder.
