Games to look forward to: 2011 Q1

Games wise 2011 has got off to a bad start.

Relax people! I only say that because I’m comparing it to 2010 when we got Bayonetta in Week 1. We were spoilt rotten last January, it hadn’t even finished and we’d been given Mass Effect 2 as well (apologies to PS3 only owners, you got the rubbish not quite as good as version of Bayonetta and no Mass Effect 2)

So what have we got to look forward to? Well Lauren over on her (GMA nominated) blog lists a bunch which interest her and now i put forward my choices for from what awesomeness could well ensue this Q1, albeit with no pictures as I’ve not sussed that out just yet on iPad.

Dead Space 2

Have you played the demo? If not go and grab it off PSN or XboxLive now and have a go, it looks incredible and unfortunately there are witnesses that i was getting scared like a big girls blouse while playing. Of course, this means I have to go back and finish the original Dead Space, a game which is high on my “Games I REALLY should have played” list.

Mass Effect 2

Game of the Year of 2010 (what? YOU said so ) is coming out on PS3. Is it stupid to go out and buy a game again when you could just play it again? Probably. But you PS3 owners can sample the awesomeness without being a massive nerd.

Dragon Age 2

Didn’t like the first one, I tried, but we really didn’t get on, she was a vegetarian and I love steak. This sequel is like Mass Effect 2, so they say, if thats true I am very excited indeed. Mass Effect with melee weapons? Boom!

Infamous 2

Not sure if its accurate, but play.com say it’s out in March and I for one cant wait to be jumping and grinding my way across a new city with my lightning powers. Infamous was a wonderful game, perfect controls, great platforming, full of charm…shame about the way it ends

Killzone 3

Had a go on this in 3D at the Eurogamer Expo, theres no relevance to mentioning that as I don’t have a 3D TV and I doubt you do (if you do though, whens the party? I’ll bring pringles). Point is it looked good in 3D, so imagine how good it will look when the graphics engine isn’t faffing about

Test Drive Unlimited 2

You could wind the windows down in the first, if this is back it’s on to a winner.

Child of Eden

The people who brought you Rez bring you something which looks life a warm and fluffy version of Rez, which is no bad thing and I have heard good things about it. But which version to get? Move or Kinect?

So

That’s so much to look forward to and thats just until March, Q1 has been more and more a “Christmas 2″ ever since Lost Planet accidentally turned up late to the party in January and scored with a cheerleader. Yet it’s a little sad that it’s essentially just a list of sequels if you take off Child of Eden, is this a sign of the times? Are there a bunch of games which aren’t on my radar which really should be? Is this Clegg’s fault?

But this is my list, your list will be different, what’s on yours?
