I was listening to the Videogamer podcast over the weekend and they started a discussion I found interesting. It was about a poll they found on ukvouchercodes.co.uk asking which was the Male Video Game Character you wanted to be.

Now ignoring the travesty that was Nathan Drake not being number one and the madness of Zidane even being on the list the question was raised as to whether or not Link is a “character” or is he an “avatar”? Heated discussion ensued, as to whether or not a “character” has to speak, be visible, have a personality to upgrade them from “avatar”. That’s not to say that one is better than the other, this is simply about defining the difference.
