I think it’s safe to assume I’m in no way the kind of person who goes chasing after Achievements, just look at my profile and you’ll see that there is only one game I have ever got all the achievements in
In spite of my previously mentioned not caring about this kind of thing, I am quite proud of getting all of the Achievements in Mass Effect 2. I absolutely loved that game and after absorbing myself in it during my first playthrough I noticed that I had got a rather large chunk of the Achievements for it. On closer inspection I saw that all I really needed to do was complete the game on the highest difficulty, Insanity, to get 100%. I figured how hard could it be? Very it turned out.
The game really comes into it’s own on the harder difficulties. No more strolling around taking out bad guys at your leisure, there is a depth in the combat system that is always there, but usage of all the tricks up your team’s sleeve is vital when playing on Insane difficulty. Man was it tough, bit usually only because I wasn’t using the correct skills, or I was taking out Krogan – playing on Insane makes the Genophage make a lot more sense.
Martin Gaston is currently playing through on Insanity and blogging his progress and I’ll give you the same advice I gave him, “Warp Ammo”. Now he claims that he wants to do it for the status, because it’s a great game, but I think we all know it’s really because this is the one game (apart from anything starting Kane & Lynch) where I have more achievements than him.
Here is the current status of where he stands in playing catch up in Mass Effect 2. I can only imagine that this keeps him up at night.
